The Human Resource Development and Recruitment office of the American Library Associations has a number of useful documents related to human resources posted on its web page: http://www.ala.org/Template.cfm?Section=hrdr
The Association of Research Libraries provides a large number of documents relating to human resources topics.
A good source for information relating to families and work can be found at the website of the Families and Work Institute .
One of the largest professional organizations for human resource specialists is the Society for Human Resource Management, known as SHRM. The SHRM website provides a number of helpful links including selected articles from its journal HR Magazine.
The U.S. Department of Labor has a website that provides a number of helpful resources. Canadian readers of this text will find the Canadian government's comparable Human Resources Management website useful.

Codes of ethics . Many library associations have adopted codes of ethics. The code of ethics of the American Library Association can be seen at http://www.ala.org/alaorg/oif/ethics.html . The Medical Library Association Code of Ethics is available at http://www.mlanet.org/about/ethics.html . The Association of College and Research Libraries has a Code of Ethics for Special Collections Librarians at http://www.rbms.info/standards/code_of_ethics.shtml .
In addition, many national libraries or librarians' associations around the world have developed professional codes of ethics. A large number of such professional codes can be seen at http://www.ifla.org/faife/ethics/codes.htm . The Illinois Institute of Technology's Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions has over 800 codes of ethics for different professions posted at http://ethics.iit.edu/codes/coe.html .
Helpful Hints for Managers. There are a number of websites that exist to provide “helpful hints” to managers or managers to be. Among these sites are: Robin Reid's “ A Checklist for Managers .” Also, CareerJournal.com has Peter Drucker's Essential Tips

Test your Temperament The Keirsey Temperament Site allows one to assess one's temperament using an assessment instrument similar to the Myers-Briggs test.
