Come Blog with Us!

Did you know there is a new, free blog devoted to Reader's Advisory services and issues? A blog designed to make your life in Reader's Advisory easier? A blog for all kinds of bibliophiles, especially YOU?

On June 20, 2007, Reader's Advisor Online, published by Libraries Unlimited and Greenwood Publishing Group, is launching a blog that features articles by RA experts, news alerts, lists, links, contests and other fun stuff. Here's where you'll find the one-stop, consensus bestseller list for this week's hottest reads. Here's where you, Diana Tixier Herald, Sarah Statz Cords, and other RAs can discuss your current book fetishes, secret places to read, and other burning issues; and learn how Joyce Maynard, author of the true crime book Internal Combustion: The Story of a Marriage and a Murder in the Motor City, relates to Jane Austen. Here's where you can bring up and wax eloquent on whatever RA topic you choose.

"We hope it will be the first place reader's advisors will go on Monday mornings as they prepare to serve their patrons in the coming week, and at the start of each shift for a quick update of what's happening in the world of books," says Blog editor Cindy Orr of Cleveland Public Library. "It's intended to function as both a time-saving bird's eye view of essential news for reader's advisors, and a community for exploring relevant RA issues."

OK, so what's the first contest? Well, let's just say it has to do with airplane reads. And prizes? Take our word for it, they're good. Check it out at the Libraries Unlimited/Greenwood Publishing Group exhibit at ALA Annual (booth # 3735), or visit http://www.readersadvisoronline.com
